
Cathy Christensen, Founder of Christensen Consulting, has been an active member of the growth and evolution of the medical aesthetics industry for the past 26 years and is an accomplished C-suite executive with a proven track record of driving exponential growth, establishing strategic clarity, and fostering high-performing cultures within the medical aesthetics industry. Her leadership philosophy is centered on the belief that the key to success lies in relationships, respect, and excellent communication.
She most recently served as President/CSO and previously as President/COO of the American Med Spa Association (AmSpa), joining the company as its third employee in 2014, and was a major driver in building and growing this industry-leading organization. Christensen co-created and implemented strategies and visions that resulted in a remarkable 40–50% increase in gross profit year-over-year.
Christensen deeply understands how to assess and increase a small business’s financial health. From budgeting to bookkeeping, ensuring fiscal accountability and strategic resource allocation, Christensen is adept at setting ambitious, ROI-driven goals, deadlines, and timelines, consistently prioritizing tasks that drive growth. A core component of her expertise is the development of meaningful, long-term relationships with industry KOLs, vendors, sponsors, and partners.
Christensen is an expert in operations and team development. She has managed and overseen the day-to-day operations of multiple organizations, leading 30+ team members across critical departments, including marketing, sales, events, content, and legal. She is a dedicated builder of workplace structures and a collaborative, successful team, setting and refining processes across departments to maximize efficiency and cultivate a positive work environment.
A significant portion of Christensen’s impact in the larger medical aesthetics industry has been in the areas of content creation and education, through which she generates significant revenue for organizations. She has led events departments, which consistently account for the majority of annual overall revenue for companies. Her expertise includes building connections with KOLs, and executing educational agendas for both large and small events, as well as digital products and podcasts, with a focus on business, clinical, legal, and leadership topics. She has worked at length with ACCME/ANCC accreditation for virtual and in-person events, as well.
Prior to her leadership roles at AmSpa, Christensen served as Editor-in-Chief/Conference Director at Allured Business Media/Skin Inc. Magazine, where she developed the content strategy for the magazine, digital publications, and conferences. She used analytics to drive and maintain processes for web content and oversaw the brand’s social media efforts, reach, and results. Christensen has also received several regional and national awards for her writing.
